There will be fast food in this. I guarantee it. It is part of our life- we try to keep it to a minimum but some days it just makes more sense.
If anyone has practical ideas as to how to reduce the eat-out's to a rarity, I'm open to ideas- but it has to make sense for our life. No sanity-breakers.
I'm using the Cozi.com menu planner (also where I keep my calendar/to-do lists/shopping list/keep track of recipes/etc). I found it first on my phone (android app is T-mobile family organizer/cozi (I think that's right)) and realized I could go back & forth w/ the laptop. I am in love with this app. Anyhow- that's just an fyi of what I'm using.
I love cookinglight.com, I had their magazine for a while, own 2 cookbooks by them and use their website a lot. It's good food usually.
I had been using savingdinner.com but frankly- most of the recipes didn't work for our gang. We have pickiness in our house that can't be helped (it's genetic) so sorting through those recipes & paying for them stopped making sense- but it's an easy way to plan.
So, other than using my stock of cookbooks/recipes & online finds-- I don't really plan with much else. I rarely plan for the whole week- allowing 2 days of life to determine what happens. If I plan food for 7 days, 2 days of items will get wasted. Evenings get up-ended. It's part of our life.
I think that's about it. Like any experiment, I might find it is hopeless & ridiculous to post daily about it, but I'll try. I plan to include pictures from the recipe & how it looked on our plates. We'll see.
Want to join in? Post what you're eating on your blog & link up to mine. (put a link in a comment and I'll add it to my post-- until I can figure out a better way to do that)
